Seems like this place could be so much better than it is. The decor is pretty old school, but it's Manitou and to be honest I don't care at all. It has the typical bar accessories and a lot of space for hanging out, it's just that nothing exceeds expectations. The food also takes forever to get. My friends and I ordered some food and it took 45 minutes to get it, so that was fun. Overall just an ok place, nothing more.

This place lived up to its reputation. My husband had the Reuben and I had the spicy meatball sandwich. Our boys split one of their pepperoni pizzas. The waitress was super friendly and really took care of us. The interior definitely reflects the maritime theme and the view of the water just adds to the experience.

This place was a great place to catch some live music. The crowd was friendly and the spirits of the atmosphere were exciting.

I was beebopping in Manitou with some Springs friends for the 4th of July festivities and was pleasantly surprised to find the Ancient Mariner, a bar with a local feeling to it and not catering completely to tourists. As you walk inside you will find yourself on a galley of ship, which yes does sound touristy, but again, not completely. Small, cozy, plenty of tables, and even a small music stage. Lovely little gem in Manitou! And if I find my way back here in the future, I will stop in for another drink!

Was recommebded by local folks as a good place for a burger and a beer. My burger was good and so was the beer - but the burger came with two little strings of red onion. I ate some but really wanted some onion so I waited for our server. Took about 5 minutes. I asked for a slice of onion. Never came. My companions offered to find our waitress ( there were abiut 4 other tables) but I wouldnt let them. 13 minutes later (yes i timed it)the waitress shows up. 'Want a box for that?' Just my onion slice pls, n its gotten a little cold so would u ask the cooks to heat it up for me? A few minutes later here comes my slice of onion on a plate and my half eaten burger fresh from the microwave with the meat somewhat less juicy, the pickle steaming and the lettuce sliding out from under the microwaved bun like steamed spinach. Looked up...server gone! This time I did go and find her. She didnt know what the health code was but maybe thats why my burger came back microwaved. She brought a plate of lettuce (a whole plate) and I finished my burger. It was cold again by the time all this transpired. Guess I was being one of "those" customers...

I love the way this place looks. It's basically the galley of an old ship. Being from the coast, it carries a certain type of nostalgia. With that said, what the heck is a ship doing in Manitou?! LoL Ok so that does not detract at all from the restaurant nor my review. The only reason I give this place 3 and not 4 stars is that it just seems to lack any wow factor. The staff is friendly enough, the food is decent (not great), but there really is nothing that grabs you other than the fact that it is the recreation of a ship. I will say this is a tentative review, and I plan on giving it another go. Worth checking out, but not a must see. Will stress again though the staff is pretty rockin'. They have always been on their game when I've gone in.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! Stopped by for a quick lunch and wont be back. We were the only customers in there for lunch. I asked for a glass of Pinot grigio and got Pinot noir. Took half an hour to collect our order. Twenty minutes to bring us our drinks. Pizza was missing half the ingredients. Water tasted horrible! No salt or pepper on the tables and I had to ask for a knife and fork. Oh and the pizza kept me up all night with diarrhea. All in all a horrible birthday lunch for me!

This place sucks. I've been here 3-4 times now, and every time the service sucks and the drinks are expensive. 4 dollars of a dom. draft beer???? Really??? and cash only??? Really??? Cause your trying to cut down on costs rights? Whatever..pass...Even the Keg in town now excepts cards. Last time I was here the bartender called that cops on a guy because he tried to use his card...and the atm won't advice him the money....

Beer was warm. Food was over an hour wait, and was not worth it. Pancetta not even rendered. Arugula was meant to be on the plate, but the 'cook' put basil on there instead. Worthless food, atmosphere, warm beer. I mean this place has nothing positive going for it. The kicker was that we were the only ones ordering food. My wife had the Philly cheese steak and it was salty. Since when does soy sauce go on a cheese steak. STAY AWAY!!!!!!

Tried their freshly made Mojito and it was surprisingly delicious...Not what I was expecting like a ghetto type of drink but a good one...I would recommend this place for unique drinks and a good time to hang with friends..Our bartender Candice was so sweet and generous..She explained how she was going to make the drinks before serving us

Been there a couple of times for drinks but never end up staying as it's a little spendy to sit and drink a few. More for tourist than anything else. I did come one evening for music and had a great time, would hang more if it was more reasonable.

Drinks are decent, prices are reasonable. Unfortunately the music played by the band was way too loud... Made our ears hurt, couldn't understand each other less than a foot away from each other...for a Sunday afternoon not surprised bar is totally empty.

It's more like a dive bar, but they have a cool laid back atmosphere. Apparently they are the ONLY place in town with a legit mule. Huge copper cups! They make a pretty darn good mule at that. Overall, great place to hang out when you are in town!

Service was extremely slow. The pizzas we order were barely warm. The hamburgers were decent but noting special. No french fries, truly disappointed. How could you have a hamburger and no fries.

OMG I can't believe this place has any good reviews. Maybe I didn't go for the right reasons. I went in for lunch last Friday with the my family, and we were all staaarrving. I ordered a cheese Panini and tomato soup. The soup tasted like warm ketchup, and the cheese was kind of gross. My husband ordered ravioli with the same warm ketchup as the sauce. I've had better ravioli from Chef Boyardee and didn't pay $11 for it! My brother got a pizza. It is pretty hard to fuck up pizza, but they did. It was gross. On top of that, we waited foreeevvverr for our food.I really wish we weren't so hungry, or we would have left. Nobody check on us though, so.... This place should seriously be on Bar Rescue or Restaurant Impossible.I felt bad for our server. She was also it the kitchen and had tables like some Waffle House shit. Maybe I'm spoiled by all of the delicious food in Atlanta, so my standards are high even for bar food. I will not be returning to the Ancient Mariner until some loud British guy gets in there and turns that place around.

I don't know why I hope this place gets better. Don't order a mojito. The woman bartender is rude and terrible in every way except o her friends at the bar. Food is sub par. The place doesn't feel clean. Everything still disappointing.

Kinda a dive bar . Strong drinks . Pool tables.Limited menu.Grill & pizza but no fries or appetizer munchies --- that's lame . meh . Funky but not filthy . Though the dread haired , dirty clothed bartender was a turnoff , she was friendly enough . Rum sterilizes all... I hope....

I like nothing better than to find a neighborhood bar in the middle of a string of tourist shops. This place reminds me of the dive bars I frequent in various cities. The decor is different but equally entertaining and the drinking company and bartender were great. No bs, just good booze. Killer prices too: My husband and I each had a mojito, then he had a Grey Goose and soda and a Scottish ale, and we split some house-made chips (which were terrific btw) and I had a grilled cheese. The tab came to $22. Wow. The food isn't fantastic but they are a bar first and an eatery 8th (I'm sure there are 7 things in between that they do pretty well). Any time I'm in Manitou I will definitely be going back.

From Dallas. This is THE BEST bar we visited in CS/Manitou. Great prices-4.50 per draft beer- veggie burgers-7.50 for each burger and you can put whatever you want on it. Great Food! You get so much more for your money out here in the mountains!

right where the main street curves into the mountains from Manitou Springs, the Ancient Mariner sits, inviting. there is a great stage which surely hosts great local music and traveling acts. there is a nice selection of local beer, and a full bar decorating the back wall. all except for a window that opens into the pizzaria next door, creating an open exchange of booze and food between the two establishments. the Bloody Mary was made from scratch, and with love. the Jameson's was poured the same way. the bartender was pleasant, and the low chairs at the bar were fun and unique. this place is definitely one of the few good stops to make in town.

Awesome local and national musical acts. Awesome food. Sexy bartenders. Nautical decorations. What else could you ask for?

not bad nothing too special. more localbrews than most bars but you pay for it. $ manitou wasn't really too busy the night (sat. night) i went and this was the oonly bar with a decent number of people. the area is a little touristy for my taste.

If you're even in Manitou, definately stop by the Mariner. Sunday night hosts some of the best live local folk music you're going to hear. The whole area is almost entirely local, so you can expect warm welcomes, good conversation, honest and respectful people, and good locally brewed beers.

Good selection of beers and pool table makes this a fun place to have a couple in Manitou. Colorado micro-brews on tap (not Fat Tire) is a drawing card. Food is nothing special. Jukebox is one dimensional.

Very friendly place! Good local beers, and good fish and chips. My buddy had a sandwich, sorry couldn't really tell you which one but he loved it! Either way this was a pretty cool Tavern in a pretty cool town. I only ate there for lunch but it was a bit slow inside the Tavern. the bar tender and cooks were friendly and talked to us about the town so I got the impression they liked the "outsiders" where as in some places they frown on the "outsiders". My only semi complaint is right next door is a pizza parlor where some of my friends went to instead of the tavern with me, they liked it and all that jazz but the two restaurants share a window and the lady from the pizza parlor asked our guy to get some coffee and he said ok then a bit later she asked again and he said he would after he took our orders, cool and great for us but on the other side was my buddies waiting for the coffee, so take that as you will. Loved it and think its worth a stop if you ever find yourself in this lovely town!
